If you are an European Union citizen and you are planning a trip to Lake Garda, in Italy, you will only need your national ID to enter the country. However, it is advisable to have on your the passport, your driving licence and a credit card (in case you need to rent a car).
Italian language is the official language of Italy. However, in the north of Italy there are many German and Ladin speaking people, and touristy sports la Lake Garda will always welcome English speaking tourists. Most of the local people here will have a decent english speaking level. Nonetheless, you should buy an Italian expression guide, and know simple Italian expression when you go for shopping, restaurant or hotel.
Since Italy belongs to the Common European Market and European Union, the currency is Euro. Make sure to have a credit or a debit card with you, as most hotels, restaurants and shops will accept Maestro, Mastercard or VISA for payment. The banks are open Monday to Friday, between 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM and in the afternoons from 14:30 to 15:30. The ATMs will accept most bank debit or credit cards and function 24/7.
