Gardone Riviera is a rather atypical locality within the region of Lake Garda, given it features neither a port nor a beach.

On the other hand, the pedestrian area on the lake shore is replete with open-air bars, restaurants and hotels selling goods and services affordable to anyone.

This destination in particular is not recommended to the young or to people keen on nocturnal entertainment. However, tourists who want to relax in a peaceful environment are highly likely to spend a wonderful vacation here.

The city of Gardone is famed for its botanical garden, as well as for the fact the area neighboring on the lake shore is sunken in color in summer, due to the lush greenery which takes hold of the nature set.

Tourists who get to Gardone by car must keep in mind traffic jams are highly likely to occur, in particular in the central area of the city. On the other hand, one benefit people who come here by car can enjoy is they can reach in no time to the nearby cities, to one of the neighboring beaches and ports, from where they can make a ferry trip on the lake.

The Vittoriale degli Italiani residence belonged to the poet Gabriele D'Annunzio, and it is worth visiting. The villa was donated by the poet to the Italian state before the moment of his death.
