Castelletto, a village located nearby the city of Brenzone, is both nationwide and worldwide known for its monuments which date back to Roman times.

A massive inscribed rock was discovered in Castelletto some 30 years ago. After analyzing it, specialists concluded it dates back from about 4,500 years ago. The inscriptions represent the first evidences of the civilization developed by the ancient locals of the region delineated by Castelletto. Among these inscriptions, symbols such as the sun, which was of particular significance for their religion, as well as of weapons used in those times, were discovered. At present, the Rock of Castelletto, as it was subsequently called, can be seen at the Village Hall.

Another highlight of Castelletto refers to the Romanian Villa, which was discovered no sooner than 2004. This building was the object of a major discovery, since it is one of the best preserved Roman edifices. The construction was designed on several levels, and it consists of 8 chambers. Recent excavations substantiated that there is a solid connection between the Roman Villa and the Church of San Zeno, which was built right on top of the former Roman settlement, the church preserving some of its architectural elements.

Tourists heading for Castelletto must not miss out the Museum of Ethnography Madre Maria Domenica Mantovani. The museum is located in the very center of the village and it displays a collection of traditional tools used by locals to the production of olive oil or to agricultural purposes.
